Who we are
An IP built to grow
the fighting game community
Ultimate Gaming Championships South Africa - developed by The Magic Pixel, run by the people who show up to the venue first and leave last.
UGCZA - Ultimate Gaming Championships South Africa - is an IP developed by The Magic Pixel, with a mission to grow the fighting game community at every level. It was built by Umar and Junayd Bradlow, who bring over 15 years of combined experience in film production, 3D animation and motion graphics.
Through unforgettable online and offline tournaments, high-quality broadcasts, engaging content and professionally run events, UGC has established itself as one of the leading tournament organisers and content creators within the local esports scene.
Driven by a passionate and ambitious team, UGC continues to push the boundaries of what is possible for the South African Fighting Game Community. Combining deep industry knowledge with a shared vision for growth, the team is committed to creating opportunities and building a stronger future for esports in the region.
2025 marked a major milestone. With the support of Acer, UGC sustained and expanded the fighting game community within Johannesburg while mentoring and training seven community members with valuable skills for long-term careers in esports.
We are passionate about putting South Africa - and ultimately Africa - on the global stage, giving the continent's talent and culture the recognition it deserves while building a sustainable legacy for future generations.

Our mission
We're all about keeping it fair, fun, and for the players. We stand for equal opportunities for every gaming athlete, building trust through real community connection, and spreading the love for fighting games across South Africa. Together, we grow, we compete, and we level up - as one united community.
Community tone · recommended

Building a trusted and competitive future for South Africa's gaming athletes.
What we stand for
Four things we don't move on
01
Fair competitive opportunities
Every gaming athlete gets the same shot. Seeding, rulesets and conduct apply equally or they mean nothing.
02
Spread the love of fighting games
Not just the top brackets - the casual setups, the first-timers, the people who came to watch.
03
Community awareness
Awareness leads to growth. The more people who know the scene exists, the bigger it gets.
04
Full trust from the community
Earned event by event. Run it straight, pay out what you promised, say what went wrong when it does.

How we speak
Quirky, fun, down to earth
Our voice
- Quirky, fun, and down to earth
- Relatable and easy to approach
- Respectful, stern and fair - easy to talk to, but not to take advantage of
Who we're for
- The South African fighting game community
- Players and spectators, 16-35
- Newcomers as much as seasoned competitors
What that means in practice
- Rules are published before the bracket, not after
- Results go up whether or not we won the day
- Anyone can ask us anything in Discord

What partners say
From the very first meeting with Umar and Junayd, their passion for what they do left a lasting impression. New organisations often have a lot to learn producing a full-scope gaming tournament, but The Magic Pixel executed the activation flawlessly. Their understanding of the gaming and geek culture entertainment space is second to none.

Working with TMP has been a positive experience. Their team has been professional, responsive, and easy to collaborate with throughout. They communicated clearly, addressed questions promptly, and helped ensure everything stayed on track. I would be happy to work with them again.
