It was awesome to work alongside PlayStation South Africa on the South African launch of MARVEL Tōkon: Fighting Souls.
We brought the launch to life through a friendly tournament that brought creators and players together around the excitement of fighting games. Through livestreaming and content, we had the opportunity to share that energy with a wider audience, but the real highlight was seeing creators experience the genre and its community first-hand.
Fighting games are competitive, yes, but they are also welcoming, supportive and full of people who genuinely want to see each other grow. Creating space for that spirit to come through was incredibly rewarding.
This event was delivered by a small, committed team, with invaluable support from our Academy members. Their passion, professionalism and willingness to step up made a real difference. I’m proud of how far they have come, and even more excited to see where they go next.
It was also a reminder of something I believe deeply: put the right people in the right roles. When people are passionate about their craft and the community they serve, they create authentic experiences, and authentic experiences deliver meaningful results for brands.
Thank you to PlayStation South Africa, every creator and player who joined us, and the team behind the event. Here’s to more great moments for South African fighting games.
